At CERN you are accommodated in the CERN hostel
in single rooms (Bldg. 38
or 39). To collect your
key you have to go to the reception in Bldg. 39
during working hours (8 am to 6 pm). Outside of working hours you can pick up
your keys from the guards on duty at the main entrance to the Meyrin CERN site
(building 120).
At the physics center in Les Houches you are accommodated in individual
rooms, each having its own lavatory. These rooms are located in "chalets"
scattered over the mountain around the main buildings (map).
Due to the high altitude (1150 m) weather is unpredictable and temperatures may
drop as low as zero degree Celsius already in September (hopefully only at
night). Therefore, you should bring warm sweater(s), rain gear, good walking
shoes and home shoes. It might be wise to have a flashlight.
Finally a few warnings
for "business class scientists" before you come to the
EUROSCHOOL2002 in Les Houches.
