Since part of the EURO SUMMER SCHOOL will take place at CERN you will be
accommodated in the CERN
hostel (building 38
or 39) for the first
two nights. CERN is easily reachable by public transport
as well as by
car. As soon as you arrive there you should see the guards on duty (building
120) to pick up a prepared access card for visitors. If you arrive outside
working hours (8 am to 6 pm) you need to pick up your room key also from the
guards.
Registration takes place on Thursday evening between 6:30 pm and
8:00 pm in the restaurant
#1 (building 501). There will be another possibility to register just
before the start of the first lecture between 8:30 and 9:00 am in building
40 (just beside your hotel), room SS-C01 (this is in the basement).
Although you will miss the Thursday evening reception in this case. The welcome
reception starts on Thursday evening at 7 pm also in restaurant
#1 (building 501).
The EURO SUMMER SCHOOL lectures start at 9:00 in the morning of the
13th of September 2002 in building
40 room SS-C01.
While you have full board lodging during the time in Les Houches, meals are
not provided at CERN. For breakfast and lunch we recommend to use the CERN restaurant
#1 (building 501) since it is very close to the lecture room and your
hotel. For dinner it is certainly a good idea to take the bus
no. 9 downtown and discover Geneva. Be aware of the fact that the last bus
back to CERN leaves Geneva downtown around midnight.
The transfer by bus to Les Houches is organized for the morning of the 14th
of September. It takes about 1:30h. The departure from Les Houches is planned
for the morning of September 20. The bus will stop at the airport around 10:30
am before it goes to CERN. From both locations you can easily reach the main
railway station (check TPG and SBB
for this).
For more information on practical details during your stay in Les Houches see
also our pages on the school, the accomodation
and here.
